Catherine Morrow works full-time as Associate Director of Communications & Development as copyeditor and donor steward for the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs, a national, non-profit, non-partisan organization advocating on behalf of Canada’s Jewish community. In her spare time, she provides fundraising help as well as writing and editing services to non-profits in the early childhood education and arts sectors.
Catherine is a soprano soloist at Rosedale United Church in Toronto. She sang professionally with the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir, the Elmer Iseler Singers, the Elora Festival Singers, and at Temple Sinai. A graduate in English and French from Trinity College, Catherine has a diploma in French Language and Civilization from la Sorbonne and studied voice at the Royal Conservatory and at the Conservatoire de Paris.
Mother of three daughters, Catherine is married to composer Norman Gabriel Nurmi and they perform occasional cabaret concerts, including a series of fundraising events for Tapestry Opera, of which they are now Directors Emeritus. Catherine is the recipient of several of Norman’s songs written especially for her and, together, they have created several recordings, two featuring Moshe Hammer on violin. She is delighted to add her efforts to the important work of The Hammer Band.
